Welcome to Abidemi's Short Stories
Well, this is a first for me. I'm a writer but I do not write short stories. I write novels. However, several things have prompted me to take this leap of faith into the world of short stories. Firstly, the rising popularity of this particular genre, aided no doubt by Scotland's very own Alexander McCall Smith. He was asked to write short stories for a Scottish newspaper to phenomenal success. I thought, 'Well, if he can do it then I must do it.'
Secondly, I wanted to do something different. I wanted to write interactive stories. Let me explain. The first book of short stories, Short Stories from a Counsellor's Chair© is exactly what it says it is. The stories are played out in the counsellor's room and we, the readers get to eavesdrop on what's going on. The counsellor never changes but his clients do. Every story is a story of his clients and whatever brings them to the counsellor's door. But that is not all. As Mr McCall Smith encouraged his Scottish readers to write in with their views on his short stories thus I must ask you my readers to do the same. It will be a journey of discovery for you and I.
The first story is Mr and Mrs Ordinary©. I will not give out the details of this story other than to say that the latest additions will be updated on the website every Sunday. The story will be concluded on the last Sunday of the month.
I do not know how long this experiment will last. I hope to have 10-12 short stories by the end of 2006 but you know the popular saying, Abidemi plans and God laughs. Everything in my writing ministry has gone exactly the way God intended it and nothing like I intended it. So this particular adventure, where it will end only God knows.
Let me know your thoughts on the first instalment of Mr and Mrs Ordinary. Fill in your details on the Contact Abidemi page, with the heading Mr and Mrs Ordinary. Remember, the power to influence the short stories is in your hands, so contact me.
Let the adventure begin.
