Musings on Street Pastors and Walking
A headline in my local paper, www.enfieldindependent.co.uk caught my eye; Crime-fighters with God on their side to hit streets. The article featured, ‘trained street pastors working with local authorities and the police,’ who will hit known troublespots from 10pm-4am.
The initiative is a city project set up by the Ascension Trust and has already been a runaway success in Manchester, Birmingham and Southends. In Suffolk, crime went down by 70% within the first 13 weeks of the scheme. And they say the church is out of touch. Pah!
www.walkofwitness.net takes the Christian message where it belongs. The walks take place on Good Friday. They provide a unique opportunity for all Christians to witness, especially for those who find it difficult to share their faith in a more personal, individual or vocal manner. Interested?
