The Writing Road

Where would you like to be in 2008? Those lofty writing ambitions you had in 2007, have they come to fruition or are they gathering dust, still? Perhaps you haven’t found your writing genre. That’s okay. When I started writing the devotional for this website, I never thought I would be a devotional writer for one publisher let alone the three I currently write for. I just thought I would write encouraging devotionals for writers even though I didn’t think of myself as a devotional writer. God, it seems had other plans!

Let me tell a couple of secrets: I don’t think I’m a good writer. I would rather spend my days reading than writing. In fact, I’m convinced that one day I’ll be ‘found out’. And here’s the rub; every writer I know feels exactly the same way. In particular, we fear being ‘found out’ but nevertheless we soldier on and write – because that’s what we do.

So this month, this year, whenever you pick up the keyboard (or pen), smile and laugh. Because you’re writing and sometimes, that is the most important thing.
